Transformers Soldier 01/15/2020 (Wed) 14:44:38 No. 253
This is a thread about official and 3rd party transformers. I don't know what else to put here.
never really understood how this works.
Why can't Hasbro sue em? Or they just dont want to?

Was wondering how long it'd be before we got a transformers thread, they're like the bread and butter of the toy community. Anyways I found this guy on a shelf and he looked lonely, so I took him home. He can even hold lego accessories! Only 3 POA and a rather limited transformation, but I guess its a small blind bag figure so I shouldn't expect much.

Aren't most of these Chinese made? If so, I know the Chinese are quite lax when it comes to copyright.

Checking this new Iron Factory wich i think is based on Bludgeon.

Very cool looking, I'd buy transformers if they all looked like this. I'm surprised that he's 3.86" as he looks bigger than that. $40 is a lot for him, but is this usual pricing for transformers of this quality at this scale?

Yep, nailed it.

>they're like the bread and butter of the toy community
They're the biggest fandom in the toy community with the biggest variety of toys, that one could envy and any avid toy collector got at least some in his collection.

TF has always been a mixed bag for me, they weren't big part of my childhood, but I had some waves of enthusiasm towards them. Animated and early Prime were great and creative toylines, sadly not the entire toylines arrived to my country so I had to track down Animated Blurr and as for Prime, sometimes I still dream about Deluxe Arcee and Starscream (they only only import the lame legends scale ones, oof). Titans Returns was also neat toyline, the headmaster, diaclone-like gimmick was really fun and add a lot of play value.
As of now, the official TF seems overpriced and it's a shame Hasbro invest most of their efforts into adult collector wannabe geewun redone instead of a new memorable legit playline like Prime and Animated. TF will just end up like GI Joe at this rate, though it will take far longer time.

3rd parties still make amazing things, but as of now I lost my hype for it again and I'm kinda sick of G1, so I'm focusing on other toylines as I've usually been.

Not long ago, I was in some small toy event at local library which had second-hand market. TF and God forbid, Funko Pops were mainly sold there. Apparently, I got some Human Alliance set with a different pilot that turned out to be walmart exclusive.
The robot mode is meh, vehicle mode is nice and attack mode is stupidly awesome.
As for the human pilot, it the greatest resemblance I've seen to real human in plastic, it put SHF 3D printing into shame, a true piece of art. To think Hasbro could master human sculpting so early on preceded other toy companies, only to abandoned this marvelous technology and never use it again.

Yes, otherwise Hasbro/Takara would've sue them already.

>hasbro is basically totally remolding molds to look very similar to toys literally in the last wave
Why did they make Optimus blatantly an earth truck if they knew they were going to redo him.
And why does so much remolding have to have happen for obvious cost cutting things. They could have actually given more characters actually alien looking vehicle modes but what do i know.only the seekers got this
This is extra bemusing considering wavemates are shit that either never made it to toysquintesson stuff, redos of something you'd never expectthe micromaster bases.

You know i've only just realized they've been releasing a bunch of shitty tank megatrons for ages, but nearly all of them suck. What was even the last good non-masterpiece megs, the Bomber maybe?
And that was like 2007 wasn't it.
>>364
>>hasbro is basically totally remolding molds to look very similar to toys literally in the last wave
Forgive my ignorance, but what is there to do with new transformers toys? Asides from creating new characters aren't any attempts at re-making old characters going to feel pretty same-y?
>>366
Well the gimmick of their line was literally "pre-earth", so they could have done proper pre-earth bodies.
Which even with the seekers was fucked because they decided it was better to homage muh blatant model reuse for the seekers in G1, meaning the Tetra Jet and robot mode is insanely gimped.
I'm reminded that the few Cybertron form autobots that even were shown didn't even make it in to the line. Only Soundwave/Laserbeakironically the only G1 bot with a "cybertron mode robot form"/Seekers got that.

Also whoops at using wave, i meant last line.
As an obvious point though, transformers don't have to always be a exact match; we had triple changer Optimus a few lines ago. Transformers can always change things if they want.
Combiner base making Spaceship megatron could totally be a thing if they wanted it to, especially since Megatrons new alt modes never really stuck.

To appease the geewuners who want the same shit again and again for eternity.
>>367
>As an obvious point though, transformers don't have to always be a exact match; we had triple changer Optimus a few lines ago
It was part of Titans Return when everyone was headmaster/titanmaster and I remember geewuners bitching about it.

Anyway, did anyone saw anything they liked at Toyfair? The new Snapdragon is shit as Apeface was, if not more.
Scorponok and Sky Lynx are kinda neat (though both of their base modes are lame), but I don't care enough excpet slightly more for Sky Lynx .
It's such a shame Hasbro didn't put this much effort into Trypticon; giving him all his accessories, more color whether it's painted or molded instead of cheapass sticker sheet and making Full-Tilt better quality without all the ugly cheap hollow gaps.

The thing is that Earth Rise Prime is a very different mold for no reason.
I can understand a remold to change his altwhat little different it has from his norm but why is he so insanely different mold wise.
It doesn't even sit as a genwun argument, because all it does is make Siege prime a wonky product. And these two primes will sit on the same shelf because they are being released back to back.

I don't actually remember how people reacted to prime being a blatant pre-toolor was he the mold reuse, i only remember people whining about the head master gimmick itself being attached to a bunch of characters who lacked it previously.
This still doesn't change the fact that since guntron is off the table, it literally means zero to what his alt mode is. Nobody has attachment to G1 Megatron with his """classic""" tank mode.
The tanktrons people remember haven't gotten a proper mold since forever, and i keep on seeing people who want these crappy hybrids painted as the notable for some reason; i legitimately cannot understand why someone would want that at this point.
Any of those kinds of repaints/slight retools looked like absolute dogshit for that, both Armada and G2.

Honestly i think Sky Lynx's base mode works really well, it actually looks decently clean. of course Scorponoks looks like shit like always because genwun in this case.
At least snapdragon doesn't have the milk plastic. I think outside of monster mode he looks reasonable, which is kinda a sad mode to sacrifice.
>>372
>but why is he so insanely different mold wise
Probably to justify another geewun Prime purchase; Hasbro who are notoriously known for reusing the same mold, wouldn't bother to create a new mold if they thought it isn't necessary and also they tend to be idiots.
>It doesn't even sit as a genwun argument, because all it does is make Siege prime a wonky product
Generations by whole with few exceptions is geewun redone. Siege is still considered geewun and yes their cybertronian alt modes were lazy and half-assed with few exceptions. Of course the new Earth Rise ver may cause the older ones look wonkey as Siege ver made older Generations look inferior etc; the whole point of Generations as I already explained is squeezing geewun to death, and how could Hasbro convince one to buy another G1 TF of the same character over and over if there's no improvements/changes?

>Honestly i think Sky Lynx's base mode works really well, it actually looks decently clean
I never meant to say it look messy, however, I don't see much of play value with this, hence I called it lame.

>of course Scorponoks looks like shit like always because genwun in this case
Not exactly, I mean take Fortress Maximus for example. The original G1 base mode was good, but Hasbro fucked the newer Titans Return version. Though, Scorponok G1 base mode wasn't the best, it's still look better than this panel-lined greeble mess.

>At least snapdragon doesn't have the milk plastic
And also no hollow arms (though his beast mode is full of gaps and hollowness).
>I think outside of monster mode he looks reasonable, which is kinda a sad mode to sacrifice
Agreed, they should've sacrifice the jet mode, I mean TFs jet mode are mediocre shit 99.9% of the time.
>>370
Now that's a kick-ass Transformer
>>374
The only reason earthrise works that way is forced differences, even the minor issues with siege will stick out compared to the near MP closeness of earthrise prime. Its reused toolingfrom studio series i think? to get rid of some notable issues.
This is probably the end of the road for such primes to really work anyway. They really do need gimmicks again to even be slightly worth it.not that i really get primes most of the time anyway.
>I don't see much of play value with this
I'm not exactly expecting much value from things that clearly were never built for it; it'd be like expecting good base modes from the scramble city main bots.
Actually that really makes me realize them actually normally having base modes makes them a decent fit for a later line huh. Combiner Wars was a decent time ago anyway.
>Generations by whole with few exceptions is geewun redone.
Yeah but a lot more emphasis on the redone part use to exist didn't it. Older Gen lines didn't give me the exact same alt mode. Power of the Primes, Combiner Wars and Titans Returns all have unique gimmicks to give some value to owning them all.
This also didn't suddenly mean they released the same idea of a megatronyou can argue primes trailer and different price point is "enough of a difference"; who really doesn't fit under this argument.
Yes it makes sense to give every line a megatron, but it doesn't make sense to spam the same one. Literally no-one actually cares what G1 tron is, well outside of the gun thing which will never happen.
A helicopter, truck or fuck it; a 2007 movie styled altmode G1 tron could be a thing and nobody would care if the robot mode looked right.
>I mean take Fortress Maximus for example.
Maximus is very blatantly hurt by cost cutting, Scorponok is very much just greeble. Which very much isn't a shock considering the line it comes from.
The panels look like G1 scorp to me, he's clearly missing a few parts from his G1 self; but the original toy also had a bunch of random panels.

What do you guys think of this guy?
>>417
Not a Transformers guy but he looks alright. Torso is a bit too buff compared to his legs and could do with a touch more greebling (though nowhere near the amount the Bayformers had).
>>419
It has really cheap plastic, he cannot stand what's so ever, none of the guys that make up the "gestald" can stand upright. All of the guys require partsforming, the whole upper torso is just a hollow nothing like everyone else of the set, the crotch plate broke off.
>>420
Jesus Christ it's that bad? I'm surprised it was even put into production if that's the case.

Found this guy lying alone in a field. He's really dirty and rusted, but I'm going to take him apart and clean him up which should hopefully do the trick.

Found him on http://tfu.info/ID/ and he's Ironhide from the BotShots series.
>>460
Unfortunately most of the screw were rusted pretty badly and couldn't be taken out, and some parts of him were assembled in a way the made disassembly impossible. Ended up cleaning him and reassembling him before leaving him in a plant pot in the garden where he can watch over it.
